Michael McIntyre was targeted by thieves on a moped on Monday as he was about to go on the school run.
The comedian was in his parked Range Rover when two males smashed the car windows with a hammer and stole his £5,000 watch.
The attack happened at 2pm in Hampstead, north-west London, while McIntyre was with one of his children.
Witnesses reported that the comedian tried to comfort his shaken sons in the aftermath of the attack.
A woman, who did not wish to be identified, told The Sun: “I saw two men dressed head to toe in black. One man was on the bike and the other was either attacking or fighting Michael McIntyre.”
Another onlooker told the Daily Mail: “The guy at the front of the moped started to hit the driver’s window about 10 to 15 times and it eventually just cracked.
“He opens the door and gets Michael McIntyre out of the car. Michael fell but he was still trying to put up a fight.
“I just remember one of the bikers trying to get something. I don’t know what the guy was trying to get – a watch, a wallet, maybe?”
His publicist Gary Farrow told the BBC the star was “fine” after the incident in north west London.
Police have asked anyone with information to contact them.
The Metropolitan Police said in a statement they were called at 1.59pm to reports of a robbery in North End Road.
“The victim was stationary in his car when two males on a moped smashed the car windows with a hammer before stealing property,” a statement said.
